Hi my name Dovey I have been married 56 years my husband has Lewy body dementia he has hallucinations he wakes up in the middle of the night believing that somebody is in the house and they’re hiding he goes through the whole house About to 3 AM looking into the bed rooms into the closets he also does this during the daytime he believe people are stealing from him he also believes that I had a fair with 35-year-old guy he calls me the worst words that I ever heard in my life and it never stops, he say so many bad other things to me. I don’t know how more I can take of this. I am hoping being part of a support group it will help me. Thank you for listening

    • The best advice I can give you is to talk to your doctor about his behavior. And what can be done to get you some respite care. These symptoms are not all that uncommon, but he will wear you out verbally and mentally. Not all patients are the same, but it does sound like you have one of the most difficult cases. I can tell you what many folks will, don’t take his rage personally, but I know that doesn’t help much. You do need some help, as my concern would be that as the disease progresses, and it will, his next phase might be one of violence. Please talk to your doctor. By doing that you put the doctor on notice that these things are going on, and he might just be able to help you. (Cori if you read this, link Dovey to one of our Caregiver Community group pages. She’ll get plenty of responses on this post.)
